Useful Physics Trivia

DID YOU KNOW...

...if you were standing on train tracks holding a single one-gram b.b. as a 2,000 metric ton train bore down on you at 100 km/h, you would have to throw that b.b. at 185.3 times the speed of light to stop that train dead in its tracks? That is 13.8 billion times faster than the average chicken can run!

Note to everyone who believes physics has no practical applications: your move.

If you are using averages, then you could have 13.8 billion chickens run at normal speed and achieve the same result.

One of my favorite sayings is, "If you have one foot in a bucket of ice and the other foot in a bucket of boiling water, on average, you're comfortable."

Yes, obviously if you have a chance to quickly trade in your BB for 13.8 billion chickens, then you have less wear and tear on your arm muscles than trying to throw something at 185*c.

Your problem then becomes organizational, trying to get 13.8 billion chickens to not only run in a straight line but to do a kamikaze attack on a locomotive.

Whether it worked or not, that train engineer is going to have nightmares.

O.K. You win! I just corralled the necessary number of chickens, got them going in a straight line and ran smack into an infinite number of monkeys at typewriters. Typewriters! (They wouldn't show me their work, although I'm told it rivals anything Shakespeare wrote.)

Dude! Three weeks is a long time even (especially) with 13.8 billion chickens. Are you O.K.?

Turns out I'm allergic to chicken feathers! Been passing myself through infinitely finer gauze.

Also, busy at work. Back to the blog soon!
